Kapi`olani Community College's Office of Community Relations offers lectures that are free and open to the public. The Kaiāulu Lecture Series features topics that are contemporary, relevant to the college offerings, related initiatives, and provide insight into Hawai`i's culture. Lecture 3 is a 50 minute video produced for the Department of Education by award-winning videographer Ann Marie Kirk. The film is based on Hawaiian Surfing: traditions from the Past, a book written by John Clark. As narrator of the film, Clark identifies six surf sports that were practiced by Native Hawaiians. He also identifies the Hawaiian names of the famous surf spots in Waikīkī that today are only recognized by their English names.
