Help Hawai'i Public Radio and Enhance your Organization’s Visibility in the Community!

HPR is seeking interested, enthusiastic volunteers to answer phones during our upcoming pledge drive.

What is a Hawai'i Public Radio pledge drive, you may ask?
Pledge drives allow the station to raise money for day to day operations, to buy programming from NPR and other programming sources AND to produce the 92 hours of locally-originated news & cultural programming we air each week.

How does it work?
Over 300 volunteers from throughout the community regularly turn out to take pledges over the phone and interact with HPR supporters across the state & around the world.

Group shifts are scheduled Monday through Sunday between 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, for 2-3 hours with group sizes ranging from 4-12 people (depending on time of day).

What’s the Bonus for your group?

  • Showcase your organization’s commitment to non-profit, community public radio.
  • Recognition – We will thank your organization multiple times over the air and throughout your shift.
  • Experience a fun team building activity!
  • Enjoy the excitement of being a part of live radio.

Not sure about answering phones and filling out pledge forms?
No Worries! We will train you on site to answer phones and provide you an easy to follow script. Staff will always be available to answer your questions.

Where are we located?
Hawai'i Public radio is located at 738 Kāheka St. across from Don Quijote one block mauka of First Hawaiian Bank on Kapi'olani Blvd. Paid parking is available in nearby office buildings or on the street (mostly metered).

The schedule fills up quickly! Our next pledge drive is scheduled for September 25, 2019 - October 4, 2019. To reserve a shift for your group, please contact: Lela Joseph at 808-955-8821 or ljoseph@hawaiipublicradio.org.
