Makaha resident Carolyn Phapakdy is starting her second year at Leeward Community College. The first-generation college student was a participant in the 'Onipa'a summer bridge program last year.

Students are wrapping up their first week of classes across the University of Hawai‘i system. One of those students is 18 year-old Carolyn Phapakdy, the first in her family to go to college. Last year, we introduced you to her on her first day at Leeward Community College. HPR’s Molly Solomon caught up with her one year later.
