Tonight on Bridging the Gap i'm focusing on Jazz from Japan...a country that has turned out an awful lot of good music, but is often overlooked for whatever reason. A lot of the show will be centered around a new compilation released by BBE records entitled "J-Jazz, Deep Modern Jazz from Japan 1969-1984" which features some incredibly hard to find and forgotten recordings. I'll warn you here, that a lot of the songs are pretty long, sometimes pushing 10 minutes in length, so it's a good show to really strap on the headphones... and slip into the music.
