Welcome to Classical Pacific for Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 on HPR 2. I’m your host, John Zak.
Did you enjoy our trip to Paris and Vienna yesterday? Today we will hear the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven’s “Triple Concert, Opus 56,” featuring stunning performances by Itzhak Perlman on violin and Yo Yo Ma on cello. We’ll also enjoy several symphonic poems by Liszt, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra joins us with several pieces by Chabrier.
So, what are your musical plans for the summer? It’s not too early to start planning weekend events. Check out our community calendar at HPR. You’ll be amazed at the variety of musical offerings that are available across the islands. Of course, you can create your own concert by downloading the free HPR app from your app store, and pairing your mobile device with a bluetooth speaker, then head out to your lanai or at the beach. Imagine Debussy, Faure, or any of your faves playing while you watch a beautiful sunset!
