Classical Pacific: Thursday, February 15, 2018: Great Performances II

Today I've again chosen great performances for your listening pleasure, including a theme and variations for one piano, a sonata for two pianos, a concerto for three pianos, a quartet by Prokofiev, an early performance by Itzhak Perlman, a great recording of Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks, and a Vivaldi sonata for cello. I also just received a new recording of the Fauré Requiem that is marvelous. The version that I was raised on was scored for full orchestra, but this recording, organized and conducted by John Rutter, is scored as Fauré intended in the 1893 version - with violas, celli, basses, harp, timpani and organ - and no violins except for the Paradisum and a solo violin in the Sanctus. I hope you enjoy the entire concert/program.
