A society sustainable over the long term will look a lot different than the one we inhabit today.

You don’t need us to tell you that life is changing. How the public education system is rising to those challenges - at least the conversation most of us hear- usually involves more general statements about sustainability and meeting 21st Century needs. Erik Assadourian sees more immediate and specific shifts that have the power to move the education system from a conduit to individual success to one of cultural change. Erik Assadourian is a Senior Fellow at the Washington D C based Worldwatch Institute. He’s in Hawaii this week and with us this morning.

Thanks Ian and Wayne. This is The Conversation on HPR2. Given the time of the day, it’s likely that coffee is on the mind of many people out there, but it’s unlikely that many are thinking about coffee in as much detail as Shawn Steinman. Shawn is the author of The Hawai‘i Coffee Book: A Gourmet's Guide from Kona to Kaua‘i, and as we look ahead to this year’s Hawaii Coffee Fest, he’s joining us in our studio.

Australian rock duo Air Supply still finds big support from fans.

The Australian duo Air Supply, Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock, has achieved what very few accomplish in the music industry: popular success that endures over the decades. So many careers flame out as quickly as they began, but theirs has continued, even as their audience grows up, and grows old.  We talked with the guitar-playing and songwriting half of the duo, Graham Russell, about the phenomenon.
