The Conversation: Long-Term Care Homes

We talk about an issue affecting our kupuna on today’s show. Specifically, we are taking a closer look at long-term care in Hawaii and efforts to close a loophole in the law: long-term care homes are not required to be licensed by the state. There are fears about individuals who are circumventing the licensing process and rising concerns about the care of our elderly without the proper checks or balances. If you would like to become a state licensed care-home facility, visit the state licensing section or call 808-692-7400 on the Office of Healthcare Assurance webpage.
