The muggy weather and soaring temperatures are setting records across the state.  And inside ‘Ewa Beach schools – classroom temperatures hover around 93-degrees and can go upwards of 108-degrees.

Parents of students at James Campbell High School are organizing a drive this Saturday called “Be Cool 4 Campbell” to gather new (or gently used) fans for classrooms.  Fans can be dropped off at the school from 9am till 1pm or the Kapolei K-Mart from 9am till 5pm.

Lynn Robinson-Onderko is the event organizer.  She says schools don’t have the electrical infrastructure to install air conditioning units, and the Department of Education has not provided a solution.

The public can also make donations and get more information by visitingRainbowfamily808.com.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
