"The Spirit of Lili‘uokalani ", bronze, by Marianna Pineda will be changed to read 1891-1917, reflecting the dates of her birth and death. This session, HB 1424 proposes to reposition Lili‘uokalani’s statue, switching it with the eternal flame across Beretania street.

Tonight, our elected officials join in on First Friday festivities as Art at the Capitol celebrates the majestic capitol building itself.  The building  made a splash in international architecture when it was unveiled in 1969, and now that the water feature functions, it continues to serve the state today.  HPR’sNoeTanigawa spoke with the first capitol tour guide.

Enjoy Art at the Capitol tonight, 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Over 500 works will be open to view in nearly 60 offices including the Governor’s suite.  This year the event celebrates the Capitol building itself, with a kick off in Conference Room 329.

Check the Art at the Capitol facebook page.

The Hawai‘i State Art Museum will be open for First Friday with special musical guests, Partners in Time, featuring music of the Balkans and Middle East from 6-9.
