Heald College Students Search For Answers After Campus Closures

It’s been three days since Heald College shut their doors, leaving students scrambling to find other options. The Honolulu school was part of an abrupt closure of Corinthian Colleges’ remaining 28 campuses.

Hundreds of students returned to Heald Wednesday for a series of transitional meetings, which will continue Thursday. Many turned up to receive their transcripts and find out more information on student loans and how to transfer to other schools. 27-year-old Kelly Bance was just two quarters away from finishing her degree in business administration with an emphasis in hospitality and tourism. She was among several hundred waiting for answers outside the school.

Other students worry their credits won’t transfer to other institutions. Alisha Henshaw is in a medical assistant program and was planning to graduate in October.

About 16,000 students were impacted by the closures, including 900 displaced here in Hawai‘i.
