Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR. Each Friday afternoon, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need. This week All Things Considered host Dave Lawrence speaks with the ALS Association, the only national non-profit organization fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) -- Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The association has a big walk this weekend – Saturday 7:30 registration, 9am walk at Kapi‘olani Park. We learn more with our guest Fred Fisher, who is the President and CEO of the ALS Association Golden West Chapter and from TV’s Hawai‘i 5-0, he plays the lead actor Steve McGarrett in the successful remake of the show, Alex O’Loughlin joins us on Helping Hand this week.
