Helping Hand - January 23, 2015 complete interview Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawai'i

Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR. Each Friday afternoon, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need with All Things Considered Local Host Dave Lawrence. This week we’re learning about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hawai'i with our guest , Executive Director, Tim Mott.

According to their website, Boys & Girls Club of Hawai'i has seven Clubhouses, three Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Teen Centers & two Outreach Sites on O'ahu and Kaua'i. They serve over 14,000 local youth, many of whom expressed in a recent study they felt safer at the clubs than in their own neighborhoods here in the islands. BGCH notes at their website that they seek to provide a safe, structured and positive environment for young people.
