Helping Hand - February 6, 2015 complete interview with Family Programs Hawai'i

Helping Hand is a weekly segment on HPR1 stations each Fridays at 5:30pm as part of the afternoon drive airing of NPR's All Things Considered. Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled, the most vulnerable in the community and other folks in need with HPR All Things Considered Local Host Dave Lawrence. This week we’re learning about Family Programs Hawai‘i. Family Programs Hawai'i is a non-profit agency relating to providing quality care to children— especially children who are in or may become involved in — foster care. We're joined this week by President and CEO Paulette Bethel, Vice President and licensed social worker Keith Kuboyama Vice President and licensed social worker Theresa Berg.

Family Programs Hawai'i a growing social service agency providing statewide services to almost 4,000 children and families involved in the child welfare system. Their website also states that they provide services to prevent children from entering foster care, support children and families already involved in the foster care system, and assist youth transitioning out of foster care. They have a benefit event coming up March 5th.
