This week Helping Hand welcomes Grandcares Hawaii. According to their website, GRANDCares Hawaii is a project of UH Mānoa and Colorado State University to support vulnerable grandparents who are raising grandchildren by providing access to community resources and information. They have two sites in Hawaii, one on Maui and one on Hawaii Island. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Heather Greenwood-Junkermeier, UH Mānoa Extension Agent Faculty based in Maui County.

Helping Hand airs Fridays on HPR1 stations statewide, as part of our afternoon drive broadcast of All Things Considered, and then appearing online here, where all of our Helping Hand segments and resources are archived online. Every week, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable.
