Helping Hand is a weekly feature Fridays at 5:30 on HPR1 stations statewide and here online. Each Friday afternoon, All Things Considered Local Host Dave Lawrence puts the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need. This week we’re learning about Mended Hearts Hawai`i with our guest, President of the Aloha Chapter 14 of Mended Hearts, Myrtle Nyuha.
According to their website, Mended Hearts works to improve the quality of life of heart patients and their families through peer to peer support. They are a non-profit organization and part of a national program providing support groups, personal visits, advice and as they note, the gift of hope.
