This week Helping Hand proudly welcomes back the National Federation of the Blind of Hawaii, advocating on behalf of the blind and those with vision challenges. Their annual state convention is September 30 & October 1 at 1901 Bachlot Street in Honolulu. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with NFB Honolulu Chapter President/State Affiliate VP Virgil Stinnett, his wife Local Affiliate Secretary/State Convention Coordinator Katie Stinnett and Shell Cantan, VP of the NFB Honolulu Chapter, as well as Cane Travel Instructor and O & M Guide at Ho'opono Services for the Blind.

Helping Hand is a weekly feature airing Fridays on HPR1 stations statewide as part of All Things Considered, and then archived online here, where all of our segments can be found and heard. Helping Hand connects with an organization, event or topic that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable.
