Polynesian Voyaging Society

H?k?le‘a and Hikianalia have spent the past five months in New Zealand, and are preparing to go their separate ways for the first time. Hikianalia will return to Hawai‘i and H?k?le‘a will continue on to Australia. HPR’s Molly Solomon checked in with master navigator Kalepa Baybayan, as part of our ongoing series H?k?le‘a: Voyage of Aloha.

Hikianalia begins her first leg home, and will head to Tahiti on Tuesday. The H?k?le‘a crew plans to depart for Australia at the end of the month.
