One of Hawai‘i’s largest hotel chains has been sold.

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts will be purchased by K-S-L Capital Partners—a private equity group. Although terms were not disclosed.  The transaction includes all of Outrigger's hotels, condominiums, and vacation resort properties.

The company was founded nearly 70 years ago by Roy and Estelle Kelley… and has remained a primarily family run business.  Outrigger Board Chair Charles Kelly said the family had a responsibility to make strategic decisions to put the company on the best path for future success.

Outrigger's management team and headquarters will remain in Honolulu.  The company operates 37 properties in Hawai‘i, Guam, Fiji, Thailand, Mauritius and the Maldives.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
