Some fishing rules have changed a bit across the islands with the start of the New Year. For example,  on Oahu, fishing is allowed this year off Diamond Head…on the Ewa Side of the Waikiki Natatorium to the Diamond Head Lighthouse. Off the west coast of the Big Island, scuba divers can no longer spear fish. Further from Hawaii, other rule changes have been proposed and are causing some controversy. HPR’s Bill Dorman explains in today’s Asia Minute.

Bill Dorman has been the news director at Hawaiʻi Public Radio since 2011.
