Two Arrested For Trespassing As Lava Flow Slows Down

In Pahoa, the main lava flow has slowed down, but smaller fingers are approaching buildings.

A North-side breakout is about 100 feet from the fence of the transfer station.  The South-side breakout is less than 100 feet from the residence that previously lost their storage shed.  The lava is expected to make contact with the home if it continues at its current rate.

A local man and woman were arrested for trespassing through private and county property to gain access the flow. Sources say that they dipped a egg-beater and a pair of golf clubs into the flow.  Darryl Oliveira is Hawaii County’s Civil Defense Administrator.

The National Guard is still providing roadblocks and security for the area.

Voters assigned to Pahoa Community Center (04-03) who live north of the lava flow are instructed to vote at Hawaiian Paradise Community Center (04-01) on general election day.

Pictures and updates and flow maps can be found at the Hawaii Volcano Observatory.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
