This week Helping Hand welcomes Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii. According to their website, they specialize in therapeutic riding instruction for special needs individuals, while providing instruction to individuals of any ability, and also offering a program with miniature horses that visit individuals who cannot come to their location due to physical or financial reasons.

Rita Coolidge is touring Hawaii starting tomorrow on Kauai, then Friday in Honolulu, Saturday on the Big Island and Sunday on Maui. HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence spoke with her about her life of musical connections, sharing stories about Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, other musical luminaries she's crossed paths with and how her Native American heritage has shaped her.

After decades without a visit, one of the most accomplished and revered guitarists is returning to the Aloha State. Al Di Meola took time to speak with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence ahead of his Blue Note run September 6 - 9, with shows at 6:30 and 9 p.m.

Gifted musician and singer/songwriter Eric Hutchinson is in the Aloha State now for his debut performances. During his Blue Note run through Saturday (with shows at 6:30 & 9 p.m.), Eric took time for an All Things Considered Atherton Studio session of stories and music with HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence.

The most awarded a cappella group in history is in the Aloha State right now. Take 6, who have performed for four sitting presidents and received ten Grammy Awards, joined HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence for an exclusive interview / performance session in the Atherton Performing Arts Studio. They have performances through Sunday at the Blue Note Hawaii.

This week we’re learning about Crisis Text Line, a free, nationwide 24/7 support for those in crisis. Users in Hawaii can text “Aloha” or “Start” to 741741 from anywhere in the US to text with a trained crisis counselor. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence learned about the service and goal to find more volunteers with Katie Copeskey, Volunteer Crisis Counselor and Recruiter with Crisis Text Line.

This week Helping Hand welcomes back Hawaii Fido Service Dogs, a nonprofit internationally accredited in 2008 by ADI, Assistance Dogs International. October 20th their Dining with Dogs fundraising event is at the Honolulu Country Club, where their very special animals will be in attendance, and there are many other ways to support this invaluable organization.

On Tuesday, August 8th 2017, legendary entertainment figure Glen Campbell passed on at 81, after a long and very public battle with Alzheimer's disease. Back on Saturday, September 1st, 2012, Glen Campbell returned to Hawaii on what would be his final concert tour.

This week on Helping Hand we’re welcoming back the Hawai‘i Parkinson Association. There are a lot of ways to offer them support, including a benefit event this Sunday at Hawai‘i Polo on the North Shore in the Honolulu area, or by participating in the Hawaii Parkinson Walk November 4th at Magic Island in Ala Moana Beach Park.

The Rippingtons are in town through Friday at the Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki. During their Honolulu run of dates, the Grammy-nominated band took time for a very special afternoon with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence. They provided music throughout the show today, plus told compelling stories of their background.

Next week area music fans have an unusual chance at a brush with greatness: Regina Belle is looking for a singing partner to join her onstage August 3 - 5 at Blue Note Hawaii shows.

This week Aloha Harvest return to Helping Hand to discuss the innovative way this nonprofit rescues an average of three-tons of food each day, then donates it to 170+ food pantries, shelters and other organizations feeding the needy in the Aloha State. There are lots of ways to help them, including some supported by local musician and philanthropist Jack Johnson.

The Voice of Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon, took time for a conversation with HPR All Things Considered Honolulu Host Dave Lawrence ahead of their debut concert in the Aloha State.
