Keaukaha Pana`ewa Farmers Association Fight Planned Composting Facility: Bobby Yamada
With the growing ethos of a green economy, few people might argue against composting unless it’s a large facility on Hawaii Island. The opposition isn’t only to the facility, but a plan to process more than just green waste. Today, the Keaukaha Pana`ewa Farmers Association is sending a letter to site design company PBR Hawaii and to Big Island Mayor Harry Kim. The association is asking for a complete environmental impact statement saying the already produced environmental assessment is incomplete.

State Civil Rights Commission Opposing Trend of Discriminatory Harassment: Linda Hamilton Krieger
With mainland reports of discriminatory harassment and intimidation, the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission is hoping to head off any similar incidents here. This week, it issued a call for solidarity among Hawaii residents to stand up for the shared Hawaii values based in the diversity the state represents. But as we heard earlier in the week from contributing editor Neal Milner those with deep-seated and simmering resentments may now feel they have license to act on them. Hawaii Civil Rights Commission Chair Linda Hamilton Krieger joins us now.
