The recent escape of a criminally insane patient from the Hawaii State Hospital focused public attention on the issue of mental illness. Our panel will explore the ways mental health impacts our society and address such questions as, how is insanity defined, by the courts, and by the health care system? How are the different varieties of mental illness diagnosed and treated?
