This week on Helping Hand we begin three weeks of related features covering the homeless epidemic in the Aloha State. We’re learning about IHS, the Institute For Human Services. IHS is one of the leading organizations in the effort to help the homeless in Hawai‘i, where the United States’ most severe homeless crisis per capita exists. HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence welcomes Kimo Carvalho, spokesperson for IHS.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR. Each Friday afternoon as part of the statewide broadcast of NPR’s All Things Considered, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization topic or event that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable. It is then archived online here.
