Helping Hand - January 4, 2019 complete interview with RYSE: Residential Youth Services and Empowerment

This week on Helping Hand we’re learning about RYSE - Residential Youth Services and Empowerment. Executive Director of RYSE Carla Houser speaks with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence. The nonprofit operates an access center where Honolulu-area street youth are assessed and referred to appropriate support services, according to their website, as they try to support this segment of the homeless population in Hawaii, which has the largest per capita homeless crisis anywhere in the United States.

Helping Hand is a weekly feature airing statewide on HPR1 stations each Friday as part of our afternoon drive broadcast of All Things Considered, and then appearing online here, where all of our Helping Hand segments and resources are archived online. Every week, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to people with disabilities and people and animals that are the most vulnerable.
