Santana returns to the Aloha State for a pair of dates April 30 at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu and May 2 at the MACC in Kahului. Since their explosive performance at Woodstock '69, Santana has become an internationally successful band, with the signature guitar sound of Carlos Santana among the most recognizable of any guitarist. Today HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence welcomes back Carlos Santana to the show. The musical pioneer, and sometime Maui resident, combined ferocious and sometimes psychedelic rock with Afro-Cuban, soul, funk and spiritual flavors to make a uniquely global music. It made his work not only accessible to a worldwide audience, but a force touching emotions of listeners in an unusually powerful way.
