The Kauaʻi duo of Kūpaoa, Kellen and Līhau Paik, have released a new album of Hawaiian music called Hoʻokele. They stopped by 'Kanikapila Sunday' to talk about it and to play songs in our studio. Līhau Paik says she wrote the title song for her father, who’s a mentor in her life.

Hōkū Zuttermeister is from a family that is renowned in the world of Hawaiian music and hula. His great-grandmother Kauʻi Zuttermeister composed the classic ‘Nā Pua Lei Ilima.’ Hōkū’s debut album in 2007, ʻĀina Kupuna, won six Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards. His latest release is called Kuʻu Pua Sakura. He wrote the title song for his mother, comparing her to a sakura, or cherry blossom. HPR’s Derrick Malama asked Hōkū why he chose that flower for his mother.
